Once the required prerequisites have been installed you will see the Welcome Screen and you are ready to install SmartCore.

 

 

 

 

Installation Location

 

The default installation location for all SmartSoft programs is C:\Program Files\Ctronix Ltd

This can be changed if required though it is recommend that the default location be used.

 

 

 

 

 

SmartCore WebServer Port Selection

 

SmartCore contains an inbuilt web server that is used to host the Smartkey web site. To connect to the Web site you enter the IP address and port no. in the address bar of Internet Explorer. If the default port no. 80 is used there is no need to enter the port no., you only need this if you choose another number. The combination of IP address and Port no. is known as an endpoint as it uniquely identifies a location on the network and the program listening on that Port no.

Port numbers 1 - 1023 are know as system or well known port numbers and should not be used for the SmartCore WebServer apart from Port 80 which is the default port no. for Web servers..  

 

If you don't intend to use SmartKeys because the system will be using hardware keypads instead you can set the Port No. to 0, in which case the Web Server will be disabled.

 

 

 

 

 

Firewall Control

 

In addition to the Port used by the Web server SmartCore uses Port No. 5431 for  TCP/IP communication with the Smartgateway and the database uses Port No. 5432 for TCP/IP communication.. The installer can open the necessary Ports through the Windows Firewall. If you are using another make of Firewall please refer to the relevant manual for information on opening Ports through the Firewall. Also note that Anti Virus software often includes a Firewall.  

 

       

 

If you select open ports through Firewall the installer adds an Inbound Rule port entry for the database PostgreSQL, SmartCore and SmartCoreWeb. Access will be restricted to computers on the Local Network (Subnet).

 

 

Install

 

You are now ready to install SmartCore.

 

 

 

 

 

Finish

 

Once the installation is complete Click finish to launch SmartCoreControl and exit the installer.
