SmartCore is installed as a Windows service, a program that runs in the background without a user interface and is always available. To control SmartCore use the SmartCore Control program which is installed along with SmartCore. The installer adds a desktop shortcut to SmartCore Control. SmartCore should be installed first before any other Smartsoft programs.

The PC on which SmartCore is installed acts as a server for the Queue management System and it is recommend that both the PC and the Smartgateway be allocated a static IP address. A PC can be configured to use a static IP address or to obtain the IP address dynamically from a server via DHCP, Dynamic Host Control Protocol. If  your Network is using dynamic IP addresses it will be necessary to contact the network administrator to reserve the necessary static IP addresses. Once you have the IP address you can configure the PC network connection via Start Menu > Control Panel > Network Connections. See Windows  Help for more details. See chapter 2 for details on setting the Smartgateway IP address.
