Creating a Database
To Create a New Database select Database > New.. from the SmartCore Control Main Menu. You have the option to backup any existing database prior to creating a new one. The backup will have the suffix ***.cxl where *** is a number chosen by SmartCore. The backup will be saved to the standard SmartCore backup location. See Scheduling Backups for more details on where SmartCore stores backups.
To Create a New Database Select Database > New... from the SmartCore Control Main Menu
You will be prompted for the SmartCore password. This is to prevent unauthorised access.
After backing up any existing database, if you selected the backup checkbox, SmartCore will proceed to delete any existing database prior to Creating a New database which will be populated with default configuration values.
Before you click Ok to Create the New Database make sure all SmartCenter, SmartMonitor and SmartPrinter programs are shutdown. These programs maintain a connection to the database and SmartCore will not delete a database whilst it is in use.
Once you have Created a New database you will need to run the Account Setup Wizard in SmartCenter, SmartMonitor and SmartPrinter programs to create the accounts for these programs.
